Here is a message written by Shawn Ong from Team SAJA.
Subject: Words on Handball

"Its Handball time! Class, do your stretching and prepare for the game. Split yourself into 2 groups." This is basically how i came about learning about handball, during P.E lessons when i was in secondary 3.

"What exactly is handball?" some might ask. To my best knowledge, Handball is just like playing soccer, with your hands! It is an interesting sport that interests me once i started playing it. Having to love soccer and basketball at the same time, handball is the most ideal sport for me. Being able to use skills exchangable from soccer and basketball, it greatly puts me to an advantage when playing handball.

Opportunity soon arrived for me to excel further in this game when i was using the web communication tool from the internet; Facebook. I was browsing throught Facebook when an article on Singapore Handball Federation caught my attention. "There will be a selection of youth players for the YOG this coming 2010." is what it stated. I felt my adrenaline pumping in me. I know that this would be an opportunity for me to display what i have learnt to the world. So without hesitation, i proceeded on to signing up for the selection, which is where my journey with Singapore Handball Federation began.

Currently, i am under the Singapore Handball Federation undergoing further trainings to iprove myself in the game. Every training gives me a sense of achievement and satisfaction, knowing that i am one step ahead to my goal; playing for Singapore in the upcoming YOG.

So here is a shout out to all my handball mates, "Always remember, union is strength! So let us train hard together to glorify our country!"
